More Information

Fabian Mattheis (Co-Founder; Marketing & Operations Lead) explains the checklist and interesting facts about IoT Use Case Podcast participation.

Checklist

  • Open the event in your calendar invitation to the podcast recording and click on the link to Riverside.
  • Does the link work? Perfect!
  • If it does not, please send a short e-mail to IT.

Connect the microphone via USB to your laptop.

  1. Distance to the microphone:

    • Position the microphone about 15-30 cm away from your mouth. A good guideline is about a hand’s width.
  2. Direction of the microphone:

    • The microphone should be aimed at your mouth.
    • For condenser microphones (e.g., USB mics), the front side is usually marked.
  3. Microphone tilt:

    • Microphone tilt: Keep the microphone tilted slightly upwards when seated to minimize airflow (e.g. from breath or plosive sounds such as “P” or “B”).
  • Use a wireless headset, e.g. AirPods or another Bluetooth headset.
  • Why?A headset prevents feedback and reduces noise so that the recording is clearer.
  • Choose a room with little background noise and good lighting (preferably light from the front).
  • Rooms with curtains or carpets help reduce echo.
  • Avoid noisy environments such as offices.

Set all devices to “Do not disturb” to avoid interruptions.

A couple of tips

  • Stay relaxed and speak freely:
The storyline with the questions is mainly for Madeleine’s preparation – you can speak freely.

  • Be authentic:
Feel free to express yourself and to interrupt Madeleine in the flow of conversation if you think of something spontaneously. An authentic conversation is important to us.

  • Don’t worry about mistakes:
Pauses or small slip-ups are no problem – we can edit everything afterward.

  • And most importantly:
Have fun! Our podcast thrives on your personality.

That’s it! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We’re excited for the recording with you and are sure it’s going to be great! Let’s get started!
