In packaging production, unplanned downtimes have a direct impact on output, costs, and delivery performance. If they are only recorded manually, the basis for a reliable root-cause analysis across lines is missing.
The challenge: Lack of a data basis for downtime analysis
A manufacturer of beverage and food packaging was struggling with frequent, costly downtimes in its packaging lines. Until then, there was no reliable data available to systematically analyze causes. Downtimes were documented manually – making optimization virtually impossible. This is where in.hub GmbH provided support with its experience in capturing and structuring industrial operational data.
The solution: Automated OEE acquisition with local data analysis
By using the HUB-EN200 from in.hub, power and process data could be captured in real time across six lines and automatically classified into the states production, idle, and downtime. Via a HUB-GM200, the data was transferred directly to the ERP system as well as to local dashboards. This gave the company, for the first time, full OEE transparency across all equipment.
The result: Less downtime and measurable productivity gains
- 15% fewer unplanned downtimes
- +220 hours of additional production time
- Over €18,000 economic benefit per year
Thanks to the new transparency, maintenance and production can now collaborate based on data.
Profitability
The investment of €5,900 paid for itself after just four months. This solution example shows how local monitoring with in.hub leads directly to operational and economic benefits.
