kenbi GmbH has been a digital pioneer in home care since 2019, providing care for patients in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Hesse and Brandenburg with around 900 nursing staff. With its own app and intelligent processes, kenbi stands for sustainable change in care.

Challenge

To automate the documentation and evaluation of tours and optimize the overview of the vehicles, kenbi aimed to introduce a mobile telematics solution in 2020. The aim was to digitize administrative processes and thus create more time for care.

DeDeFleet facilitates new approaches to care

Well thought-out, efficient processes are required to relieve nurses of their time-consuming administrative tasks and give them more time for their core duties. That’s why kenbi GmbH has been a digital pioneer in home care since November 2019. With around 950 employees, including 900 nursing staff, the company cares for patients from over 50 locations in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Hesse and Brandenburg. To achieve this, the care specialist relies on mobile processes and flexible, largely self-determined teams. kenbi has been using the digital telematics solution DeDeFleet since 2020 to easily document all journeys and automatically manage logbooks.

This allowed the care expert to achieve a significant improvement in quality, as DeDeFleet makes automatic recording of trips a breeze and retires manual logbooks. The data from DeDeFleet can be easily integrated into kenbi’s systems via interfaces, making it much easier to evaluate trips. This means an enormous increase in convenience and time savings for employees: thanks to DeDeFleet, the time spent on administrative tasks is reduced by around seven hours per nursing staff member per month. “With DeDeFleet, we are able to solve the tedious paperwork simply and digitally and create time for the really important things in our job: the people!”, reports Clemens Raemy, Co-CEO & Co-Founder at kenbi.

The Solution

Following detailed market studies, kenbi decided to implement DeDeFleet. The partnership-based contact and a test run with one of the company vehicles, which was completed within three days, were particularly convincing. With DeDeFleet, the care provider benefits from the following advantages, among others:

  • ✓ Automatic documentation of vehicle operating times
  • ✓ Facilitated evaluation of the tours
  • ✓ Cost reduction through time savings for nursing staff
  • ✓ Improved fleet safety thanks to tracking function
  • ✓ Easy scalability for further growth

In addition to the convenient, digital driver’s logbook, the care service provider also keeps track of the entire vehicle pool at all times thanks to DeDeFleet, thus ensuring greater fleet safety. Because DeDeFleet makes it easy to prove that the vehicles are only moved during the billed tours, kenbi can also reliably meet all insurance requirements and prevent unauthorized vehicle use.

kenbi was able to benefit from these advantages within a very short time, as the experienced DeDeNet experts implemented the rollout of the telematics solution for around 180 nursing staff and 170 vehicles in less than three weeks. An important success factor: the close, goal-oriented cooperation that enabled the DeDeNet project team to successfully solve all of the customer’s challenges. In addition, DeDeFleet was perfectly suited to kenbi’s growth strategy, as new company vehicles can be integrated into the system within a few days if required. “With DeDeNet, we have found the ideal partner to sustainably optimize our care processes. This saves us valuable time in processing and invoicing our tours,” summarizes Michael Rothbarth, fleet manager at kenbi GmbH.

Telekom provides the connectivity

In the partnership between DeDeNet and Telekom, Telekom ensures the connectivity required for telematics fleet management. Every fleet management solution is based on data being sent from the vehicle to the fleet management system via a cellular connection. Hardly any other company has such expertise in mobile communications as Deutsche Telekom. Its IoT services ensure reliable data transmission. Important vehicle data, such as the location or operating information, is recorded and transferred to the software via built-in SIM cards. The data can then be viewed in real time by fleet managers in order to call up current vehicle movements and routes or to carry out subsequent analyses. Deutsche Telekom thus provides the technical basis to ensure a seamless connection between the vehicles and the central platform.
