The Aubergine & Zucchini Vollwert Frischdienst, Party Service und Catering GmbH, headquartered in Meckenheim, has been providing kindergarten and school meals as well as catering for events since 1991. The company employs around 110 people and is characterized by its cooperation with regional suppliers and various certifications.

Challenge

In order to optimize the delivery process and make it traceable, Aubergine & Zucchini was looking for a partner who could provide industry-specific expertise and at the same time guarantee individual customization options. The new solution should also keep pace with the company’s planned growth in the coming years.

Menu delivery 4.0 at Aubergine & Zucchini: Just-in-time thanks to DeDeFleet

The Meckenheim-based catering company Aubergine & Zucchini has specialized in kindergarten and school catering in the Rhineland for almost 30 years. The company also offers catering and party services on request. Aubergine & Zucchini attaches great importance to the use of regional products, just-in-time production and punctual delivery of high-quality dishes. Aubergine & Zucchini introduced the digital solution for vehicle telematics and route planning DeDeFleet to simplify scheduling and traceability in the supply chain.

Delivering around 7,500 lunches a day and planning fixed routes with several stations – this presented Aubergine & Zucchini with the challenge of professionally managing punctual production, traffic disruptions and individual delivery windows. In order to be able to inform customers of any delays in good time, it was previously necessary to regularly consult with the drivers – a cumbersome procedure! Thanks to the special industry functions for menu delivery services, DeDeFleet was able to remedy this situation within a very short time and optimize route planning and communication processes. Among other things, the user-friendly DeDeFleet app offered immediate benefits: it digitizes order processing by the delivery drivers, provides the head office with a real-time status of the tours and replaces cumbersome telephone queries.

In order to meet the company’s requirement for consistent, lean processes, DeDeNet then implemented the connection to the RCS food costing program already in use via an interface. Here, Aubergine & Zucchini benefited in particular from DeDeNet’s knowledge of the industry and its willingness to respond to individual customer requirements. “The collaboration with DeDeNet is very fruitful for us, as both sides see great potential in the further development of a special industry solution,” explains Patrick Lennarz, Sales Manager and authorized signatory at Aubergine & Zucchini.

As Aubergine & Zucchini has set its sights on significant growth in the coming years, it is all the more important that the company can rely on the future viability of its software solutions. With DeDeFleet, the catering company has therefore laid the right foundation, as the tool is able to cover all stages of the delivery process and thus increase transparency and avoid errors. Aubergine & Zucchini can also rely on DeDeNet’s expertise and innovative strength at all times when it comes to further developing the solution or interfaces to new tools. “With DeDeNet, we have found a strong partner for our entire workflow as soon as the produced and packaged food leaves the canteen kitchen and is released for order picking and distribution. In future, DeDeNet will map all the processes that take place in the loading process, on the road and at the customer’s premises,” says Patrick Lennarz.

Telekom provides the connectivity

In the partnership between DeDeNet and Telekom, Telekom ensures the connectivity required for telematics fleet management. Every fleet management solution is based on data being sent from the vehicle to the fleet management system via a cellular connection. Hardly any other company has such expertise in mobile communications as Deutsche Telekom. Its IoT services ensure reliable data transmission. Important vehicle data, such as the location or operating information, is recorded and transferred to the software via built-in SIM cards. The data can then be viewed in real time by fleet managers in order to call up current vehicle movements and routes or to carry out subsequent analyses. Deutsche Telekom thus provides the technical basis to ensure a seamless connection between the vehicles and the central platform.
